Unit Title: Job Interviewing Skills and Techniques

Grade Level: Adult Education

Subject: Administrative Assistant (Career and Technical Education/Computers)

Duration: Three weeks (one night per week)

Goals

Problem: Students will learn how to interview successfully for a job by creating interview questions, sitting in a mock interview, serving on a mock interview panel, evaluating interviewee's answers on a rubric, and collaborating to select the best candidate for the job based on all of the above.

Technology Standard: Students need to be able to use computers to research jobs, apply online, and in some cases for interviews using Skype and other technology.

Content Standard: Course content includes computer terminology; proper English grammar, punctuation and spelling; knowledge of proper formatting for cover letters and resumes.

Prerequisite Skills: Basic keyboarding and knowledge of basic computer use; good written and verbal communication skills.

Objectives: By the end of this unit of study students will be able to prepare, ask, and answer typical interview questions by having researched jobs, developed interview questions, sitting on mock interview panels as both the interviewee and interviewer.
